ORGL 605: Imagine Create Lead

As an arts leader, I appreciated how imagination and creativity were used as a framework for this class. Leadership requires imagination, and creativity is accessible to all of us. Being creative requires a willingness to be vulnerable and to take risks. Creative collaboration can only happen in an environment where trust is established.

Concepts such as taking a “long loving look at the real,” and pentimento, to see and see again were the inspiration for my final Pentimento Collage project. I used an old beat up canvas as the foundation for the collage—a new art form for me— challenging myself to see it as it was and see it again. The PDF includes images of each phase of the collage, including mistakes. Those are part of the leadership journey, too.

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
